Ximos is the parent-facing app and web dashboard used to view streams, manage settings, and access the Cloud Media Vault. XimosKid is installed on the child's device and runs the monitoring service itself.
By default, yes — XimosKid appears under its own name in the app list, and a persistent, non-dismissable notification runs whenever monitoring is active. A parent can optionally hide the launcher icon; the notification still remains. See the full policy on the Trust Center page.
Yes, through normal Android settings. A parent PIN is required first, to prevent accidental or impulsive removal — this is not a Device Admin block, and does not lock the device or erase data.
New accounts get 720 free streaming seconds and 250MB of storage, refreshing every 19 days with no cap on how many times it resets. Additional time can be earned by watching reward ads (up to 50–60 credits/day) or referrals (420s per referral, up to 5,000s), or purchased with a minimum $1 crypto top-up. Purchased balance never expires; only the free bonus resets.
The free bonus (720s / 250MB, refreshing every 19 days) has no expiry date and no subscription requirement. Usage beyond that draws from a purchased or ad-earned balance instead of a monthly fee.
During screen mirroring, a parent has full remote touch control — click, swipe, and gesture — plus a toolbox with Smart Alert popups, OnScreen Notify messages, Open App, Send Link, and clipboard send. During camera casting, a parent can flip between front and rear camera and toggle the flashlight. Ambient audio listening works during either session but draws from account balance (minimum $0.10), not free seconds. Full breakdown on the Docs page.
No, not currently — this is a deliberate design choice. Ximos gives parents visibility (usage reports, screen time, alerts) and a way to communicate with the child device directly, rather than remote app blocking or content filtering. Optional app blocking and keyword/content filtering are being explored for a future update; see the Roadmap.
We intend to publish a periodic summary of security incidents, abuse reports, account removals, and vulnerability disclosures here as the user base grows to a point where these numbers are meaningful. As a young project, our first report will follow after the first full reporting period.
Ximos is a small, independently-run project. Bug reports, documentation fixes, and security review are the most useful contributions right now — open an issue on GitHub or email us directly, whichever's easier. If you're a security researcher, please see the disclosure guidelines on the Trust Center (disclosure policy) before filing a public issue for anything sensitive.
